ASSESSMENT OF PRECISION OF THE DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS OF THE LOWER JAW IN CHILDREN. CLINICAL AND RADIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Distraction osteogenesis of the lower jaw is widely used for the children with congenital or acquired forms of underdevelopment of the lower jaw, allowing gradual lengthening of the bone and improving of the mandibular functions. The treatment is increasingly planned with the use of 3D modelling, which improves precision of the osteotomies and distractor installing. However, in clinical practice minor discrepancies between the calculated (planned) and actually achieved lengthening of the jaw are possible because of Oral and maxillofacial surger Virtual the soft tissues elasticity, reaction of the regenerate and other factors. That is why this work deals with assessing of the degree of compliance of the pre-surgical 3D computer planning of distraction osteogenesis of the lower jaw in children.
