Only continuity of treatment at the stages of medical evacuation makes it possible to provide necessary amount of medical care for the wounded and injured persons. Successful medical aid to 702 persons with abdominal gunshot wounds proved extremely high importance of the «damage control» tactics. After performing the program of damage control the main operative treatment for this category of wounded is sanitation of the abdominal cavity which is in fact a kind of primary surgical treatment with subsequent planned secondary surgical interventions in the form of relaparotomies
